Empire Blue Cross originally had planned to drop the majority of their small health insurance groups in New York on 4/1/2012 regardless of a group’s renewal date. Instead, small group Empire health plans will now terminate beginning 4/12/2012 upon the group’s renewal date.
Although New York employers will have a little more time to move to a different health insurance company (depending on the renewal date), it is still to your advantage to move to a different carrier sooner than later since prices still increase every quarter.
