The NY Bridge Plan from EmblemHealth is now available for New York State residents. People seeking comprehensive health insurance in NY that have pre-existing conditions now have an affordable health plan option available to them.
Part of the PPACA which passed in 2010, included the creation of the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, which is now accessible throughout the US. In New York State, this is called the NY Bridge Plan, and is managed by EmblemHealth.
The purpose of the NY Bridge plan is to provide NY residents (who have been unable to secure health insurance due to pre-existing conditions), with an affordable health plan option. This program will last through 2014, when the new health exchange programs will be available to switch over to.
